Naturalmente alla fine ho ceduto. Solo che mi hanno fregato il mio tipico username (nemokid) e tutte le varianti che uso di solito.

i’m searching a tool that could help us building documentation. By now we have some word document that we manage with a subversion server. We’re not so happy with this approch; documents are becoming to long to be managed. They have a fixed structure that force all the people thinking in the same way if they want to find information inside the doc. Finding bugs is becoming quite difficult. Last but not least, docs are a bad tool if you need to collaborate with other people writing things.

So we are thinking about the possibility to use a web tool to create product documentation. So i need your help finding the right tool. We need at least the following features:

• We don’t want an hosted service, the server must be installed on our server
• We need to have a strong version management of all content
• We need to create something like an indexed static version of the documentation in html (for web pubblication) or in pdf for distribution. Clients will access only stable version of the documentation
• Documentation must be rich of cross link and reference so customer could create their personal path through it
• Effective search and tagging would be really usefull

By now i’m thinking about a wiki to create contents but how can i publish them when ready? Another possibility could be a cms tool used to create a documentation site but we loose the strong cross-reference features that a wiki offer.

So, any suggestion?

I’m not a lover of second life. Honestly i never play with it and i don’t feel the need to give it a try.

There’s a big attention on second life, probably because there’s a lot of people living there.

This is not a post against second life or people that play with it; if they like it and they amuse with it, that’s ok. Their doing the right thing for them.

I’m a bit annoyed by all the people on radio, tv and newspapers who’s trying to describe second life as the symbol of a new way of building social relationships. IMHO second life is not the future of internet.
I preferer first life; probably it’s harder and you cannot leave when your tired but it gives me more pleasure. There’s nothing better then talking with someone that you can touch in a real space. Body is an important part of the relation with others.

I think the future of internet, and technology, is not on moving people outside their world but moving internet, and technology, inside reality, in a trasparent way improving the experience of real life.

Questo post di antonio mi ha messo di buon umore, se non altro per la frase di cui sopra.

Adobe Flash is probably the best way to spread multimedia content on the web; as youtube or google video suggest, using Flash to show videos is the best choice. It’s simple, well integrated with the browser, spreaded on almost every pc, you don’t need any particular software to download (for sure, you need the plugin but it’s really small) and video are shown directly into site pages, it works on almost every platform. The perfect solution for end users.
But there’s some price to pay; Flash is proprietary and has some constraints. It accepts only two video format;

• FLV, a proprietary format derived from H.263
• VP6, a more efficient format created by ON2

The second one give more quality in less space but need a lot of work to encode so is not suitable for on-the-fly encoding.
A Flash application could get videos in two way; download them via HTTP (doing progressive download to obtain something similar to streaming) or get them from a streaming server.

che bello veder nascere un progetto a cui hai dato il tuo piccolo contributo.
E leggere un post su uno dei blog che segui abitualmente.

E vedere che nessuna sa esattamente cosa sia.

E per una volta tu lo sai, ma non puoi ancora dirlo.

week end intenso e padovano questo. Dopo la negativa esperienza della gita al bike expo di venerdì, ieri sera sono stato al conceto di Elisa. Non so che dire, semplicemente magnifico. Credo di non aver mai sentito cantare così bene dal vivo, è l’unico caso in cui la voce dell’artista dal vivo è persino migliore della versione su cd. Due ore abbondanti di musica senza pause, senza mi un cedimento della voce. Un’energia incredibile e una generosità senza pari; non si è risparmiata un attimo dalla prima nota a quando è uscita. Credo che le prossime date siano tutte esaurite ma, se riuscite, cercate di andare a un suo concerto. Non ve ne pentirete.

Probabilmente è tardi, ma se posso darvi un consiglio, evitate di andarci. Risparmiate i soldi e godetevi il week end.

L’edizione 2007 è triste tanto quanto è stata bella quella 2006.
Io ci sono andato venerdì e mi sono ritrovato invece una specie di immenso bazar.

Gli stand di abbigliamento pakistano, orpelli da bikerz (pellame, borchie, spille, lacci e laccetti), abbigliamento da cowboy e, non ultimi diversi stand di cose che non ho capito cosa centrano con le moto, hanno invaso quasi tutti gli spazi. C’era più stand di birra e salsicce che di preparatori di moto.

Alcuni padiglioni erano (magari si sono riempiti sabato e domenica) piuttosto “spogli” ed in generale una sensazione di improvvisazione che faceva sembrare il tutto una specie di sagra paesana.
Moto belle molto poche; escludendo gli stand più o meno ufficiali delle case (per la guzzi c’è solo quello di un volenteroso concessionario a cui va tutto il nostro apprezzamento ma che sfigura rispetto a quasi tutte le altre case) e del pad. 1 con le moto del concorso di racer/freeway (di cui poi parlo) ci sono poche cose belle da vedere e vanno cercate con il lumino.

Guzzi poche; una custom verde/gialla/brillantina orribile nel pad. di bikers life basata su un sp 1000 stravolta. La griso modificata da barbacane (che ho finalmente visto di persona) che si chiama zero, una v11 sempre di barbacane nello stand della alpina (per publicizzare i nuovi cerchi a raggi x V11), uno scempio (secondo me) di un centauro vicino ad uno scempio (sempre secondo me) di un V11 entrambi nello stand del concorso (dove c’è il griso di filippo).
Accessori interessanti per le nostre moto sinceramente non ne ho visti.
Fra un po’ si vedranno sulla rete le foto delle moto esposte (io non ho trovato niente che valesse la pena fotografare) ma la maggior parte delle special che ho visto sia nel padiglione di racer e ancora di più in quello di bikers life non mi sono piaciute. Sulle custom/chopper harley style non mi facevo illusioni; già l’anno scorso avevo visto che erano quasi tutti esercizi di stile fatti più per dimostrare che si è bravi che per fare qualcosa di bello (sempre secondo il sottoscritto). Ma anche sul fronte special non “chopper” non ho visto moto che mi hanno attizzato.

Venendo alle cose da salvare posso dire che le moto di rossopuro sono sicuramente una spanna sopra tutto il resto in quanto a qualità della realizzazione, cura dei dettagli e originalità (qui qualche foto). Esteticamente non mi sono piaciute molto un po’ per il colore usato, che non amo, un po’ perchè trovo poco aggraziato il codone sia del Griso che del V11. Spettacolari i cerchi a raggi alpina, tutte le moto dovrebbe avere i cerchi a raggi! Il motivo principale della mia gita comunque non era una guzzi quest’anno ma la Triumph preparata dai miei amici meccanici (Gabbin bros); una Leggend del 2001 trasformata in cafè racer. Poche modifiche cercando di ottenere una moto pulita ed elegante, senza cercare il colpo a sensazione. Alla fine devo dire che era una delle moto più riuscite dello stand (Pad. 1).
Insomma, grande delusione per una fiera su cui avevo molte aspettative. Ho buttato una giornata.
